Foundations English Level 3 Weekly Spelling Bees
(B1 wordlists Oxford 3000)
How it works
Words are assigned to each Spelling Bee based not only on their general frequency of occurrence but also on their suitability for each stage of language. development.
Each Spelling Bee contains appropriately 20 words.
Words are presented in random order.
Each turn, students hear a recording of a word (and see a definition). Students try to guess the spelling.
Only the first guess counts towards the final score. After that, students can keep trying to spell a word correctly without penalty.
After the second guess, students start to get hints.
After three incorrect guesses, students can press the "I Surrender" button to reveal the correct spelling.
The game ends when students have spelled all words on the list correctly. They have a chance to revisit misspelled words before the game ends to make sure they can spell them correctly.
Students get a final report, which they can save or print if needed.
The Spelling Bees work on a laptop, iPad and mobile.
